NFL Draft 2025: Complete List Of Compensatory Picks From Rounds 3-7

First of all, what are compensatory picks?

Compensatory picks are awarded to teams that lose more or better compensatory free agents than they acquired in the previous year.

The NFL Management Council created a formula to determine which compensatory free agents should result in a draft pick. The formula is based on salary, playing time, and postseason honors.

Not every free agent lost to another team will result in a compensatory draft selection.

No club may receive more than four compensatory picks per year.

Compensatory picks are situated from rounds three through seven in the NFL Draft. 

This year, 32 compensatory picks were awarded via the formula’s results.

However, the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, and Detroit Lions were awarded special compensatory picks.

These special compensatory picks happened because a minority employee was hired as a head coach or primary football executive position by another team.

For example, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn became the head coach of the New York Jets.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 24-26 in Green Bay.
