Jaxson Dart has yet to throw a pass in his young NFL career. But based on the oddsmakers at sportsbooks around the country, he is already one of the favorites to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Can Jaxson Dart Win NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Year?
As it stands heading into Week 4, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is the betting favorite. Thanks to his hot start and three game output of 14 catches, 181 yards, and 3 touchdowns, he is listed at the top of the board with a designation of +300.
Not far behind is Tyler Warren, the first-year tight end for the Indianapolis Colts. Warren has the same amount of catches as Egbuka and 12 more yards, but has yet to find the end zone. He is listed at +450.
Then it is Jaxson Dart, who is currently third in the running at +650.
As a quarterback, he stands a good chance to surpass Egbuka and Warren in the coming weeks. For quarterbacks, the path to NFL Rookie of the Year has always been clearer than it is for other positions.
History backs it up: four of the last six winners have been quarterbacks, and in today’s pass-heavy league, the award often comes down to which rookie signal-caller puts together the best combination of wins, stats, and highlight-reel plays.
Dart steps into an opportunity tailor-made for that kind of résumé.
| Player | Odds |
| Emeka Egbuka | +300 |
| Tyler Warren | +450 |
| Jaxson Dart | +650 |
| Tetairoa McMillan | +750 |
| Omarion Hampton | +750 |
Another factor that could tilt the scales in Dart’s favor is the New York market. Playing in one of the league’s biggest media hubs means every performance, good or bad, will be magnified. If he strings together a couple of statement wins to pull the Giants away from their winless start, it’s almost inevitable that his Rookie of the Year candidacy will be front-page news.
In short, Dart doesn’t just have a shot at the Rookie of the Year award. He has a realistic pathway to it.
