NFL Odds: Jaxson Dart Has 44% Chance To Win Rookie Of The Year

Jaxson Dart introduced himself to the world during a prime time game last Thursday, and he has now taken over as the betting favorite to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Jaxson Dart Now Favored To Win NFL OROY Award

Dart wasn’t high on the odds board to start the season. The New York Giants had given the starting quarterback spot to veteran Russell Wilson, with the rookie listed as the backup. Given that he wouldn’t be on the field much, Dart was listed by most sportsbooks at a designation of around +2200 (4% implied odds).

But the Wilson experiment lasted just three games, and the team named Dart the starter ahead of Week 4 in order to provide a spark.

He has done just that. After a solid performance in his first game to lead the Giants to their first victory of the season, Dart had a bit of a down game in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints. But he rebounded in a big way this past Thursday night.

Against the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles, Dart went 17-of-25 through the air for 195 yards and a touchdown, avoiding any turnovers in the process. He also contributed on the ground, rushing 13 times for 58 yards and adding another score with his legs. Despite entering the game as 7.5-point underdogs to the defending Super Bowl champions, the Giants pulled off a 34-17 upset victory, elevating Jaxson Dart into the national spotlight in the process.

Dart Carries Implied Odds Of 44%

As of Monday morning, Dart is now listed as the betting favorite to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. According to DraftKings sportsbook, he now carries a +125 designation, which have implied odds of 44%.

The potential injury to Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka has likely contributed to the change in numbers. Egbuka had been the betting favorite over the last 3 weeks due to his hot start, but he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers, and could miss time depending on the results of Monday’s MRI.

Tyler Warren (+600), Ashton Jeanty (+600), and Tetairoa McMillan (+1000) round out the top-5. Dart’s teammate Cam Skattebo has shot up the charts as well, as he now sits with a designation of +1700.
