The Philadelphia Eagles entered Week 5 as one of the two undefeated teams in the NFL, and were the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. But a tough loss to the Denver Broncos gave them just their second loss in their last 22 games overall, which caused the oddsmakers to knock them down a couple of rungs.
NFL Odds: Lions Overtake Eagles As NFC Favorites
The Eagles have been the team to beat in the conference in recent years. From the start of the 2022 season through Week 4 of this year, Philadelphia had posted a record of 43-12, and appeared in two Super Bowls while winning last year’s big game. They came into the 2025 season with lofty expectations once again, and were delivering on them through the first month.

But after building up a 17-3 third quarter lead on the Broncos on Sunday, they were outscored 18-0 in the final frame. It marked their first home loss since September 16th of last year, though they are still in control atop their division with a 4-1 record.
They’re no longer the favorites to advance to the Super Bowl, though. That designation now belongs to the Detroit Lions, who are listed as +340 favorites to win the NFC. Dan Campbell’s team has won four in a row since their opening week defeat to the Green Bay Packers, and have scored more points than any other NFL team thus far. They have a point differential of +62, easily the highest in the league, nearly four times higher than that of the Eagles (+16).

Philadelphia didn’t just drop down to second place on the NFC odds board. According to DraftKings, they are now tied with the Green Bay Packers at +425 to be the ones who represent the conference.
The San Francisco 49ers (+800) and Los Angeles Rams (+900) round out the top five.
The Eagles have a change to get things back on track, though. Their next three games consist of two meetings against the New York Giants, and one against the Minnesota Vikings. Those teams have a combined record of 4-6, and the Eagles are 8-1 against the Giants over their last 9 meetings.
