NFL Odds: Vrabel, Johnson Are Favorites To Win Coach Of The Year In 2025

The 2024 NFL Head Coach of the Year award was presented to Minnesota Vikings lead man Kevin O’Connell earlier this month. A one-year improvement brought his team from a 7-10 record to 14-3, which was enough for the voters to choose him over Dan Campbell and Dan Quinn.
Who Has The Best Odds To Win 2025 NFL Coach Of The Year?
Which teams will see the biggest improvements in 2025? Here are the top candidates for the COY award for the upcoming NFL season:
(Odds provided by DraftKings)
Mike Vrabel – New England Patriots (+750)
Jerod Mayo failed in his attempt to fill Bill Belichick’s shoes in 2024, and lasted just one season as the head coach of the Patriots. New England finished with a 4-13 record, and have decided to bring in another one of their former players as their new leader.
Mike Vrabel will take over in 2025, and he is set up well to have success in his first season at the helm. The Patriots have a young quarterback in place in Drake Maye, and have more available cap space than any team in the NFL. Owning the 4th overall pick in the upcoming draft will help as well. New England has nowhere to go but up, and turning the franchise around in Year 1 would make Vrabel a top Coach of the Year candidate.
He has a current designation of +750.
Ben Johnson – Chicago Bears (+750)
Speaking of room for improvement, the Bears were in need of a new coach after a disappointing season in 2024. They were able to bring in one of the hottest names on the market in Ben Johnson, who had been garnering NFL head coaching buzz for the past few years.
The former Lions offensive coordinator will bring his creativity to Chicago, who have former no.1 overall pick Caleb Williams already under center. There will need to be improvements made to the roster, but they rank no.5 in most available money this offseason, and will look to fill holes under their new regime.
Johnson is tied with Vrabel on the odds board at +750.
Pete Carroll – Las Vegas Raiders (+1200)
One of the more surprising hires of the offseason was Pete Carroll. The Raiders are hoping that the oldest coach in the league will be able to bring some of his championship pedigree and experience to Las Vegas, as the team is desperate for a turnaround.
He’ll have his work cut out for him, as the Raiders lack talent in many areas, including at the quarterback position. But they’ll have the second-most cap space in the NFL to work with, as well as the 6th overall pick in the draft.
Carroll is listed at +1200, which he shares with long time rival (and now divisional foe) Jim Harbaugh.
