Flag Football is coming to the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. There were questions about which level of players would be permitted to represent Team USA, but those were answered earlier this week when it was announced the NFL players would be allowed to participate in the upcoming event.
Which NFL QB Will Start For Team USA In 2028 Olympics?
There is already plenty of speculation about which specific players will be picked. It will be a 5-on-5 contest played on a 50-yard field, and there is of course flag-pulling in place of tackling for the inaugural year of the sport. Team USA will likely feature some of the best skill players that the NFL has to offer, and there will be an obvious need for a highly skilled quarterback.
Who might be the pass thrower come 2028? BetOnline has released betting odds for which player will start at QB for Team USA.
Lamar Jackson | +200 |
Jayden Daniels | +300 |
Josh Allen | +500 |
Kyler Murray | +600 |
Patrick Mahomes | +800 |
Jalen Hurts | +1000 |
Joe Burrow | +1200 |
CJ Stroud | +1200 |
Bo Nix | +1200 |
Justin Herbert | +1600 |
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is the leader in the clubhouse at +200. His skill set is one that the decision makers for Team USA are likely looking for, especially given his elusiveness and escapability. Jayden Daniels (+300) of the Washington Commanders is cut from a similar mold, and he has a solid chance of being the starting QB in 2028 if he continues his ascension in the NFL.
Josh Allen is the third quarterback on the odds board at +500, though there may not be a whole lot of value there. Allen succeeds in the NFL run game by being able to take (and deliver) big hits, which is something that won’t be happening in Olympic flag football. Kyler Murray is not far behind Allen at +600, but will he have the same kind of mobility in three years when he is 30 years old?
Who Are The Long Shot Bets?
There are some interesting options further down the list. Shedeur Sanders is a bettable choice, as the Cleveland Browns rookie comes in with a designation of +6600. But he isn’t the current rookie with the shortest odds, as the Seattle Seahawks’ Jalen Milroe is sitting at +5000.
Tom Brady will be 50 years old in 2028, but for some reason is an option on the betting board. His odds are sitting at +25000, with only Aaron Rodgers at +50000 being a longer long shot.
