Love Tops NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds
On talent alone, nobody would blink at Love sitting atop this board.
He was the best all-around back in this class, and the tape backs it up.
But +450 is a number that comes with an asterisk attached, since Arizona wasn’t exactly begging for a workhorse rookie back — James Conner and Tyler Allgeier are both still on the roster, and the Cardinals’ offensive line and quarterback situation remain with question marks heading into the year.
Mendoza’s price tells a cleaner story.
Going No. 1 overall to a Raiders team desperate for a franchise passer, he’ll get every opportunity to sling the ball around from Week 1, and history shows quarterbacks who start immediately have a real shot at this award regardless of team record.

Two Rookie Backs Wound Up in the Same Draft Class, Different Situations
It’s worth pointing out how differently Love and his old Notre Dame backfield mate Jadarian Price project.
Price landed in Seattle at +700, stepping into a backfield that just lost Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III — about as clean a runway to touches as a Day 3-turned-first-rounder could ask for.
Love, meanwhile, has to share carries in a crowded room.
On the receiver side, Carnell Tate walking into Tennessee at +600 might be the most straightforward fit in the entire class.
Cam Ward needs weapons, and Tate was widely regarded as the best route runner available.
Jordyn Tyson’s move to New Orleans carries similar logic — a rebuilding offense that handed him the keys as a rookie WR1 almost immediately.

Depth Chart Battles Loom Large for the Rest of the Field
Further down, the picture gets murkier.
Makai Lemon landed in a crowded Philadelphia receiver room after the Eagles also signed a veteran and traded for another pass catcher this offseason, which could cap his target share early.
De’Zhaun Stribling faces a similar bottleneck in San Francisco, competing with established names for snaps.
Carson Beck’s situation in Arizona is arguably the most interesting long shot on the board — he opened the preseason as QB1 on the depth chart ahead of two veterans, an unusual vote of confidence for a third-round pick.
And in New York, both Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr. joined a Jets offense that added significant draft capital at the skill positions, meaning touches for either could be harder to come by than their landing spots might initially suggest.
Sadiq and Cooper Jr’s teammate David Bailey is currently listed as the second favorite in the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year odds market.
