Monday provided significant updates to quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Joe Burrow.

Daniels’ 2025 campaign is over.
Coach Dan Quinn announced that Daniels will be shut down for the final three games of the Commanders’ season. Marcus Mariota will start in place of Daniels.
Quinn said that Daniels has not been cleared to play since aggravating his elbow in the Commanders’ Week 14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Daniels will continue to practice, but he will not play.
The Commanders’ upcoming schedule played a factor in the decision to sit Daniels. Washington takes on the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday afternoon and the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Day.
The Commanders are 4-10 and have been eliminated from playoff contention.
It’s been a tale of two seasons for Daniels. As a rookie, Daniels won the 2024 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award and led the Commanders to the NFC Championship game.
This year, Daniels has been hurt for the majority of the season. Daniels has only played in seven games, missing contests due to injuries to his elbow, hamstring, and knee.
Daniels’ 2025 season ends with 1,262 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions. The versatile quarterback has also rushed for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
The Commanders’ final three games of the season are against the Eagles (Weeks 16 and 18) and the Cowboys (Week 17).

What is going on with Burrow?
The talented quarterback shared concerning comments for the second time this week following the Bengals’ 24-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Burrow finished 25 of 39 for 225 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions.
“I think this is one of the worst games I’ve played,” Burrow said via Bengals.com. “I’m honest with myself and my play. I hold myself to a high standard, and today didn’t come close.”
Burrow took the heat for the loss days, which came days after he spoke about wanting to have “fun” again on the field. Frankly, Burrow did not talk like a man who was having fun on Sunday.
With the loss, the Bengals were eliminated from the postseason. Burrow missed nine games this season due to a turf toe injury. With the postseason a statistical impossibility, will Burrow suit up for the final three games?
Coach Zay Taylor said Burrow will continue to start because the team still wants to win.
This upcoming offseason for Burrow is arguably the most important of his career. The Bengals must sign a few offensive linemen and completely rebuild their entire defense.
If not, does Burrow seek a trade out of Cincinnati? Only time will tell as to what happens.
