Tennessee Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo runs out of the tunnell.

After a terrible start to the season, the Houston Texans (3-4) are starting to show signs of life as they battle for a playoff spot. Ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline, here are three players the Texans should go after.

Browns RB Jerome Ford

The Houston Texans’ backfield has been an enigma all season.

Things started rocky when Joe Mixon was placed on injured reserve with a mysterious foot injury. Head coach DeMeco Ryans recently said that there is no timetable for Mixon to return.

The Texans’ backfield has primarily consisted of Nick Chubb and Woody Marks, with sporadic carries from Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale.

The Texans are 17th in rushing yards per game (113.4).

Houston’s offensive line is a bigger issue when it comes to the running game — an NFL-worst run block win rate of 68%.

With Mixon’s uncertainty, the Texans could add another running back into the mix. Cleveland’s Jerome Brown could help Houston in the passing game.

Ford has 21 receptions for 76 yards this season. Ford also won’t cost an arm and a leg to acquire. A late-Day 3 pick should suffice.

Offensive Lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson

The Texans’ offensive lineman is a major problem.

Houston’s offensive line ranks 28th in pass block win rate (55%) and 32nd in run block win rate (68%).

Because of the poor offensive line, it came as a surprise to many that Houston would trade offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders before the season started.

Although the Texans received significant draft capital for Tunsil, it does not fix their offensive line woes in the present.

The Texans need another offensive lineman to protect C.J. Stroud and help out the struggling run game.

Las Vegas Raiders lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson could provide a temporary solution. Though it could cost the Texans a third-round pick, Powers-Johnson could fill a void at guard.

Titans Tight End Chig Okonkwo

The Tennessee Titans can’t trade every weapon, or else they’re doing rookie quarterback Cam Ward a disservice.

That being said, the Titans must start building for the future since their season is essentially over.

Tight end Chig Okonkwo could be a valuable asset to multiple teams looking for another tight end.

Dalton Shultz is the clear No. 1 tight end in Houston. After Shultz, the backups are Harrison Bryant and Brenden Bates.

Okonkwo would be a clear upgrade over Bryant and Bates. Okonkwo had at least 50 receptions each of the past two seasons. Plus, Okonkwo is in the final year of his contract, so Houston would only have to give up a Day 3 pick to acquire him.
