NFL Trade Rumors: Could The Patriots Make A Deal For AJ Brown?

The Philadelphia Eagles have a 4-2 record through the first six weeks of the 2025 NFL season, but things have been tumultuous thus far for the defending Super Bowl champions. There are rumors heating up regarding the team making changes before next month’s trade deadline, which involve some big name players.

Will AJ Brown Find A New Home In The NFL?

One of them is AJ Brown. Philadelphia’s offensive production has been relatively stagnant over the first month and a half, and their star players aren’t putting up the type of numbers that they’re used to. Running back Saquon Barkley’s total pace has come back down to earth, and Jalen Hurts is on pace to average under 200 yards passing for the second straight season.

The production of the wide receivers has seen a massive decline, especially that of Brown. The 28-year-old former All-Pro is averaging just 45.7 yards per game so far in 2025, which would be easily the lowest figure of his career. He has had two games in which he finished with fewer than 10 receiving yards, and he has scored just one touchdown.

Brown has made his frustrations known, especially via social media, which has caused rumors of unhappiness with the team.

Could he ask to be traded? The Eagles figure to be buyers at the NFL trade deadline in order to bolster their roster and capitalize on their championship window. But if AJ Brown wants out, the team could look to ship him off in order to bring in some value in return.

There are likely plenty of teams that would be interested in one of the top wideouts of the past half-decade.

New England Patriots Could Be In The Market For A WR

One of the destinations that would make the most sense would be the New England Patriots. In Mike Vrabel’s first year, the team is out to a surprise 4-2 start, thanks in large part to the elevated play of second-year quarterback Drake Maye. While the young pass thrower already has a nice connection with newcomer Stefon Diggs, an upgrade at wide receiver would be welcomed.

The addition of AJ Brown would give Maye and the Patriots one of the best wide receiver duos in the AFC, and they are one of the teams that is in the salary cap situation to be able to absorb his contract.

Other teams that could show interest in trading for Brown include the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Chargers. The NFL trade deadline is November 4th.
