The Jalen Ramsey saga continues for the Miami Dolphins, as the disgruntled cornerback is still on the team’s roster with just over a month left before the start of NFL training camps. But a trade is still highly likely given the severed relationship between the team and the player, and the Minnesota Vikings are one of the teams that could look to bring the 31-year-old in.
NFL Rumors: Would Vikings Take A Risk On Someone Like Ramsey?
The Vikings have a strong roster heading into the 2025 as they look to back up their impressive 14-3 record from a season ago. They’ve added pieces this offseason to a defense that led the league in takeaways in 2024, and their defensive front could be one of the best for the upcoming campaign.

But there are still question marks when it comes to their secondary. The Vikings ranked 28th in passing yards allowed in 2024, and didn’t do much to remedy the situation during the free agency period back in March and April. They re-signed Byron Murphy Jr. and brought in Jeff Okudah, but didn’t make any upgrades that would clearly make the unit more talented going forward.
Could bringing in Jalen Ramsey be an option for Minnesota? He certainly has the pedigree, as the longtime pro has racked up seven Pro Bowl appearances as has been named to three NFL All-Pro teams in his career. But there are some concerns with his advancing age, as well as his contract situation, which are things that could turn the Vikings away from the situation.
How much money would Minnesota have to take on in order to bring Ramsey into the fold? Can he still be productive enough to be worth the price tag?
And what about the young guys? Would having Ramsey as a starter result in fewer snaps and slower development for players like Mekhi Blackmon?

Those are all factors that Minnesota’s front office will be weighing if they want to bring in someone like Ramsey. The Vikings already have the most expensive roster in the NFL for the upcoming 2025 season at over $357 million, and adding to that may not be in the cards.
They would also have to give up draft compensation, which is something that they are trying to recoup after trading away capital the last couple of years.
The team’s staff is familiar with Jalen Ramsey, as many of them were present during his time with the Los Angeles Rams. One of those guys is head coach Kevin O’Connell, who was the offensive coordinator for LA in 2020 and 2021.
