Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Jalen Hurts was “having fun” with him when the quarterback joked that the team let him out of his “straitjacket” in Sunday’s win over the Washington Commanders.

What Did Jalen Hurts Say About Nick Sirianni?

Despite winning two playoff games, Hurts faced criticism about his passing abilities ahead of the NFC Championship.

Before Sunday, Hurts had a 4-3 postseason record with the Eagles. When Hurts threw for 154 yards or fewer, the Eagles were 0-4. The trend continued this postseason, as Hurts threw for 128 yards in the Wild Card Round and 131 yards in the Divisional Round.

The fifth-year quarterback let it rip on Sunday, completing 20 of 28 passes for 246 yards and one touchdown in a 55-28 win. Hurts also rushed for three touchdowns in the victory.

After the game, Hurts joked that Sirianni “let him out of my straitjacket a little bit.

On Tuesday, Sirianni said his quarterback was “just having fun” after the win.

“I think he was having fun after the game,” Sirianni said via Jeff Skversky. “You know, we’ve been winning a couple different ways this year. I think he’s just having fun after the game. But I know this. He’s said this plenty of times, ‘I don’t care how we win, as long as we win. And we do everything we can do to be able to win.’ As we’ve talked a lot, there’s been different circumstances of how games have went, and where we’ve been at late in games, but we’ve found a way to win and rattle off 15 out of 16. So, again, thought he was having fun with that after the game. Just loved how he went out and executed and prepared for this game.”

Jalen Hurts Heading To 2nd Super Bowl

With Sunday’s win, Hurts has led the Eagles to their second Super Bowl in three seasons.

In Super Bowl LVII, Hurts was the best player on the field for the Eagles. The quarterback completed 27 of 38 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown.

Hurts also rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite Hurts’ best effort, the Chiefs defeated the Eagles 38-35.

Hurts and the Eagles will have a chance at revenge when they face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.
