Cam Ward was the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. Typically, when a QB goes first overall in the NFL Draft, they are the buzz around the news in the offseason.
However, there has been no chatter regarding Cam Ward.
He signed a four-year fully guaranteed rookie deal worth $48.7 million.
When you watch or listen to sports networks, Cam Ward is rarely mentioned.
Nobody Is Talking About Cam Ward
Despite being the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, there is no chatter on Ward. This could mean a good thing or a bad thing.
Ward reportedly completed minicamp very well, showing why the Titans chose him first overall.
Observers say Ward is calm and focused and that he is already outperforming other rookie and veteran QBs after being selected, which is encouraging.
Cam Ward emphasized he is using the offseason “without compromise,” improving every aspect of his game.
There is a belief among league analysts that he has validated the Titans’ decision in minicamp, and he continues to trend upwards.
Still, the national media is barely mentioning Ward.
This Could Mean Success For Cam Ward
It might be a good thing that the national media is not talking much about Cam Ward.
There is not much pressure on him as there was with Caleb Williams last year.
Last year in the offseason, all the talk was on Caleb Williams, and the national media did not mention Jayden Daniels much. Daniels lit the league on fire in his rookie campaign while Williams struggled mightily.
Wins Will Not Indicate Ward’s Play Early On
Cam Ward will find it challenging to win early this season. The NFL schedule makers did not do him any favors early on in the season.
Here are his first nine games before the week 10 bye:
-
- @ Denver Broncos
- vs Los Angeles Rams
- vs Indianapolis Colts
- @ Houston Texans
- @ Arizona Cardinals
- @ Las Vegas Raiders
- vs New England Patriots
- @ Indianapolis Colts
- vs Los Angeles Chargers
If Cam Ward does not win games early on, this should not dictate how he is viewed. How he plays and if he keeps the Titans competitive in games is a much better indicator.
Starting on the road against a very tough Broncos team in week one, followed by a home matchup against a very good Rams team, is not ideal to start. Ward will be challenged from the start of the season.
Ward will play three straight road games between weeks 4-6 and again in week 8.
The schedule lightens up a bit after the week 10 bye, with home games against the Seahawks in week 12 and the Jaguars in week 13. They will take on the New Orleans Saints at home in week 17. One of their road games is against the Cleveland Browns in week 14.
Ward may find it tough to win early in the season, but he could rack up some wins later in the season.
Patience will be key for Ward and the Titans organization. It may be bumpy early on, but if Ward plays well and keeps the Titans competitive in games or even steals some wins that they weren’t expected to win, this would be massive for Ward and the Titans.
Cam Ward has the chance to make the media talk about him. For right now, he is being overlooked entering the season, despite being the first overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
