Against the Mavericks on Monday evening, the Nuggets were without two starters. Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun are set to miss extended time due to injury.
Spencer Jones and Peyton Watson have replaced Gordon and Braun in the starting lineup. Denver lost 131-121 to Dallas on Monday. In the third quarter, starting PG Jamal Murray suffered an ankle injury. He limped to the locker room and would return to the court. However, Murray quickly exited after trying to re-enter. If Murray’s ankle injury is serious, the Nuggets will be without three key starters. Who would replace Jamal Murray?

Jamal Murray is in his ninth professional season with the Nuggets. He’s appeared in 555 games and made 481 starts. In 2025-26, Murray is averaging 23.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. His points and assists per game are the second-most on the team this season. Despite a 131-121 loss to the Mavericks, the Nuggets are still 14-6.
However, the team cannot afford for Jamal Murray to miss extended time. The 28-year-old suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter. Murray limped to the locker room but did make his way back to the court. Shortly after, Murray left the game. He finished the game playing 26 minutes for Denver. Murray had 10 points, nine assists, and four rebounds.
David Adelman on Jamal Murray’s right ankle sprain:
“It’s a huge absence, obviously, offensively. I don’t know how he’s doing (right now).”
Said Murray is such a tough player, so:
“If he sits himself because of the pain, it probably hurts.”

If Jamal Murray misses time due to an ankle injury, the team will be in real trouble. Denver is already without two key starters in Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun. Bruce Brown is listed as the Nuggets’ backup PG in 2025-26. Brown has played in all 20 games this season, averaging 23.1 minutes off the bench. Is Brown capable of handling the secondary scoring and playmaking duties for Denver?
The Nuggets’ next game is Wednesday, December 3, vs. the Pacers. After their loss on Monday, head coach David Adelman said Jamal Murray will get treatment on Tuesday and Wednesday. He noted that Murray is a “tough player”. Adelman said he knew Jamal wasn’t feeling right since he checked himself out of the game. Denver will wait for an injury update on their top PG. If he misses time, the Nuggets will have to piece together minutes with rotational players.
