NY Jets Trade Rumors: Breece Hall, Jermaine Johnson Are Top Candidates To Be Moved

The New York Jets are the only winless team in the NFL through 7 weeks. The debut season of head coach Aaron Glenn hasn’t gone anywhere near how they’d hoped, and the team has undoubtedly punted on the year from a competitive standpoint.

Jets Could Trade Breece Hall & Others Before Deadline

The failures could set them up for a profitable trade season. The Jets may be looking to offload some of their current talent in order to help aid in their rebuild, and there are players on the roster that could fetch some value on the trade market.

Here are three players that the Jets may consider cutting ties with:

Breece Hall – RB

The Jets player who has been mentioned the most in trade rumors is Breece Hall. The 24-year-old running back’s contract is set to expire at the conclusion of the season, and it is unlikely that he will be willing to return given the team’s current status and situation. New York likely wants to receive some kind of compensation instead of letting Hall walk for nothing.

Since Hall is in need of a new contract, his trade value may be kicked down a notch. But given that he is still a starting caliber performer, a return could include a package of third and sixth round draft picks.

Jermaine Johnson – LB

If the Jets want to get the most bang for their buck, they might look into trading linebacker Jermaine Johnson. He had his breakout year in 2023 when he notched 7.5 sacks and earned a Pro Bowl nod, but tore his Achilles the following season and hasn’t played much since. So far in 2025, he has 15 combined tackles and 1 sack in 174 defensive snaps.

Johnson is a young enough piece that New York could keep as a part of their rebuild, but there are few players on the roster that would net as hefty a return as Johnson. The injury history may hurt his value, but he could fetch a third round pick on the trade market.

Michael Carter – S

He might not be a starting-caliber player due to both injuries and overall regression, but Carter II could still provide depth for a contending team. The 26-year-old cornerback was solid during his first three years in the league, and he could be a commodity if he can return to his pre-2024 form.

It is his contract that makes him a candidate for trade. The Jets signed Carter II to a 3-year extension worth $30.7 million a couple of years back, and he has failed to live up to the money. Any team trading for him would be on the hook for $9 million in 2026, with a possibility for an “out” the following summer.

If New York opts to move him, the expected return would be a mid-to-late round draft pick.
