Packers’ Jordan Love, Malik Willis Dealing With Injuries After Week 16

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers were on the road Saturday for an NFC North showdown vs. the Bears. The game was for control of first place in the division.

In the first half, Packers QB Jordan Love took a hit to the head. He was later ruled out with a concussion. Backup Malik Willis came in and kept Green Bay in the game. Unfortunately, the Packers let the Bears recover an onside kick late in the game and steal a win in OT. The Packers lost 22-16 and are 9-5-1. On top of that, Jordan Love is in concussion protocol, and Malik Willis is dealing with a shoulder injury. Not ideal for Green Bay.

Jordan Love and Malik Willis have injuries after a Week 16 loss to the Bears

If the season ended today, the Green Bay Packers would make the NFC playoffs as the seventh seed. They would face the two-seed Chicago Bears in the wildcard round. The Packers have two games left to try to hold onto a spot in the postseason. Matt LeFluer’s Packers have lost two massive games back-to-back. They are 9-5-1 in 2025. Next week, Green Bay is at home to face the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams could be without their starting QBs.

In the second quarter of an OT loss to the Bears in Week 16, Packers QB Jordan Love took a big hit to the helmet. He exited the game and did not return. Backup Malik Willis came in and finished the game. Jordan Love was later ruled out due to a concussion. On top of that, Malik Willis suffered a right shoulder injury late in the fourth quarter. Willis was able to finish the game for the Packers.

On Sunday, Matt LeFluer told the media that Malik Willis is “pretty sore.” With Jordan Love in concussion protocol, his chances of playing in Week 17 are slim. In 2025, players hardly suit up the next week if they suffered a concussion in the previous game. Malik Willis could make his first start for the Packers sicne Week 3 in 2024.

Against the Bears in Week 16, the Packers did not have an emergency third QB. Clayton Tune is on the practice squad but was not elevated for the game. Matt LeFluer told the media that Josh Jacobs and Jayden Reed were the emergency backups if Willis went down. With Jordan Love in concussion protocol, Tune could be elevated to the active roster when the Packers face the Ravens.
