Will Micah Parsons make his debut for the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions?

Micah Parsons Listed As Questionable For Week 1

The Packers’ newest acquisition may not take the field in Week 1.

Parsons is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the Lions.

Parsons is dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back. The star pass rusher participated in a limited capacity in all four of Green Bay’s practices.

When asked about his availability for Sunday, Parsons said he will defer to the coaches.

“It’s a process of getting ready for football,” Parsons said via Packers.com. “Obviously, going through the tightness, the soreness, but I just got plenty of faith that this great training staff and the coaches are slowly getting me the plays and getting me things that I need if we decide to give me the green light out there.”

Parsons underwent steroid treatment for his back, which dates back to this past training camp with the Dallas Cowboys. Parsons said he wants to hold off getting an injection if the current treatment works.

“We finished the [steroid] pack, and hopefully that works plus treatment to get me back to 100,” Parsons said Thursday via ESPN.

Packers Hoping Micah Parsons Can Elevate Team to the Top of the NFC

After acquiring Parsons in a trade, expectations have changed in Green Bay.

The Packers traded two first-round picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark to the Cowboys to acquire Parsons. Green Bay then made Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history with a four-year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed.

The Packers were a popular dark horse for a team to reach the NFC Championship. With Parsons, many believe Green Bay can represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is happy to add a game-wrecker like Parsons to his aggressive unit, which was top five in turnovers forced in 2024.

“As we get a feel for him and what he can do, I think we’ll just continue to build and go from there,” Hafley said. “I think we’re going to evolve and figure it out as we do get going, but obviously he’s capable of doing a lot of different things and affecting a lot of different areas of the field, and I’m very excited that he’s here.”

The Packers welcome the Lions to Lambeau on Sunday afternoon.
