Before Watson steps on the field in 2025, the Packers will reward the talented receiver with a contract extension.
Watson and the Packers have agreed to a one-year, $13.25 million extension. The new contract keeps Watson with the Packers through the 2026 season.
Watson was entering the final year of his rookie contract. Instead of letting the season play out, the Packers extend Watson by a year.
Watson is currently rehabbing a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 18 of the 2024 season. The 26-year-old is physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start the season. Watson is currently targeting an October return to the team.
The Packers selected Watson in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Watson’s career started off promising with a rookie season of 41 receptions, 611 yards, and seven touchdowns in 14 games.
Watson only played nine games in 2023 due to a hamstring injury. The Packers receiver finished with 28 receptions for 422 yards and five touchdowns.
Last season, Watson played the most games of his career (15). While Watson’s receptions (29) were down, he set a career high in yards (620).
Watson’s biggest problem has been health. The 6-foot-5 receiver has never played more than 15 games in each of his three seasons.

The Packers arguably had the best performance in Week 1.
The Packers’ defense held the Lions’ high-powered offense to 246 total yards in Green Bay’s 27-13 victory.
Micah Parsons had a sack in his debut and will only get better once he receives more reps.
The Lions averaged 33.2 points per game last season. Detroit did not get into the end zone until the final minute.
Quarterback Jordan Love threw two touchdown passes in the victory. Love finished 16 of 22 for 188 yards and no interceptions. Josh Jacobs led the way on the ground with 19 carries for 66 yards and one touchdown.
Green Bay (1-0) will have a quick turnaround, as they play the Washington Commanders (1-0) on Thursday Night Football.
