One of the biggest names in NFL free agency is still available on the open market. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a decision on his future in the league, with apparent opportunities from the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants available to the 41-year-old. But the long, drawn out process isn’t sitting well with some of the players on those teams, who want Rodgers to make his choice so that all parties can move forward.

Steelers Players Growing Tired Of Waiting On Aaron Rodgers

Cameron Hayward has been a part of the Steelers franchise for 15 years. He is the captain of the defense, a five-time All-Pro, and one of the most respected figures within the organization. And he is tired of waiting for Aaron Rodgers.

On his podcast on Tuesday, Hayward had the following to say about the situation:

“I just want to play football. I’m tired of talking about the quarterback situation. I’d rather have it done. I don’t know what ends up happening. I’m ready to move on into free agency. There’s too much going on.”

Hayward was jokingly asked by his co-host if he’d be interested in attending a “darkness retreat” that Rodgers has been known for. “I ain’t doing that darkness retreat,” Hayward said. “I don’t need any of that crap. You either want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. It’s that simple.”

The position is certainly in limbo for the team. Pittsburgh is one of the handful of NFL teams that has yet to solve their quarterback question this off-season, and arguably the best franchise that is still waiting for a resolution. They went with a two-man system last year, employing both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, and there is a still possibility that they bring back the latter for a second go.

The Steelers did sign Mason Rudolph, who spent the first four years of his career with the team before leaving for the Titans last season. But he certainly is not the answer that the team is looking for to man the position.

There are rumors that Aaron Rodgers will be waiting until close to draft night in order to make his decision, but that doesn’t seem like a tactic that will prove to be very popular with his potential teammates.
