The Pittsburgh Steelers finally got their answer from Aaron Rodgers. He has signed a one-year deal with the Steelers.

Rodgers will become the new starting QB for the Steelers. Pittsburgh has been unable to find a franchise QB since Ben Roethlisberger retired.

This move does not address their long-term need for a franchise quarterback. It is a band-aid and a one-year solution, much like last season with Russell Wilson.

Pittsburgh has not won a playoff game since 2016. They have made the playoffs five times since 2016 but have not been able to win a postseason contest.

The Pittsburgh Steelers hope signing Aaron Rodgers will lead to some postseason success.

Pittsburgh Steelers Remain Mediocre Despite Aaron Rodgers Signing

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the same spot as they were last year.

They have an aging, diminishing QB who is not a long-term solution. Trading away WR George Pickens leaves them with one bona fide WR1 and no real WR2 threat. DK Metcalf was acquired in the offseason, but the Steelers decided to trade Pickens and once again have just one threatening WR. This is a fairly similar WR group as last year, with the difference being Metcalf as the WR1 instead of Pickens.

The running back position is a question mark. This will depend on how third-round running back Kalen Johnson performs. Najee Harris is no longer with the team. Jaylen Warren and Johnson will be the running back duo for the Steelers.

The Steelers hope their offensive line improves in 2025. They spent a lot of draft capital trying to fix the offensive line, but it has not materialized yet.

Despite having the most expensive defense in the league, they are aging and regressed as the season went on last year.

Despite bringing on Rodgers for a year, the Steelers remain mediocre, and it will be very challenging to win a playoff game.

Steelers Should Fire Mike Tomlin If No Postseason Success

The Steelers have not won a playoff game since 2016. If they do not once again win a postseason contest, it is time to fire Mike Tomlin.

He has run his course, and his message is getting stale.

Tomlin has been awful in the playoffs. He has not led the Steelers to a playoff win since 2016. Since 2011, the Steelers have won just three playoff games. No head coach would survive this but Tomlin. This is due to the Steelers’ refusal to fire a head coach. They keep their head coaches for a long time, but enough is enough.

The NFL Draft is in Pittsburgh in 2026, and the Steelers will likely draft a QB in round one. Mike Tomlin has been unable to find a long-term solution at QB. Let the new QB start with a fresh coach, one with an offensive mind. It is time for the Steelers to fire Mike Tomlin after the 2025 NFL season.
