Porsche Tennis Grand Prix

It is an unusual week in the tennis calendar where fans are treated to a Monday final at the 2025 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.  It is an indoor tournament, so weather is not the reason, but Good Friday delayed play.

Jelena Ostapenko, fresh off her sixth straight win over Iga Swiatek on Saturday, capitalized on the win with a straight-set victory over Ekaterina Alexandrova.  Ostapenko has never been to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final.

Aryna Sabalenka was pushed to the limit but ultimately defeated Jasmine Paolini in straight sets.

Ostapenko vs. Sabalenka: Who Will Win?

As Ostapenko was on the favorable end of a matchup yesterday, 6-0 over Swiatek, she is on the opposite end of it against Sabalenka.

She has never beaten Sabalenka in three tries and will try to change that narrative on Monday.

Sabalenka has been a three-time finalist and watched Ash Barty (2021) and Iga Swiatek (2022 and 2023) win the Porsche.  She desperately wants to drive off with the Porsche.  In her three previous tries, she lost to the World No. 1.  Now that she is World No. 1, the odds are in her favor to get the win and the Porsche on Monday.

Aryna Sabalenka is also the more rested of the two.  She played her first match of the tournament on Saturday in the quarterfinals.  There was no evidence of rust or a sluggish start on Saturday when she defeated her former doubles partner Elise Mertens, 6-4, 6-1, in the quarterfinals.
