Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes of Orlando, Florida is an elite blueliner in the National Hockey League. At 25 years of age, he has already won the Norris Trophy, and been a two-time NHL All-Star. However, there are genuine rumors swirling around the NHL today that Hughes may not be a member of the Canucks long term. There is a genuine explanation why. Let us explain.
What is the reason?
The reason has to do with family. Quinn Hughes is the older brother of Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes, who are teammates of the New Jersey Devils. According to Luke Fox of Rogers Sportsnet on Wednesday, Jack has stated he would love to play with Quinn someday. Due to the fact there is a growing belief that Luke will stay with the Devils (is currently a restricted free agent and is currently negotiating a deal with New Jersey), there is a feeling that if all three Hughes brothers were to play with each other, it would definitely be States side, as all Hughes brothers are American. Like Quinn, Jack was born in Orlando, while Luke is a native of Manchester, New Hampshire.

Quinn Hughes is set to make $7.85 million in 2025-26, and $7.85 million in 2026-27. He has two more years left with the Canucks. Jack Hughes is set to make $40 million over the next five years with the Devils through to 2029-30.

This past season, Hughes had 16 goals and 60 assists for 76 points in 68 games. He was a +2 with 29 penalty minutes, 29 power-play points, three game-winning goals, 192 shots on goal, 67 blocked shots, 13 hits, 25 takeaways, and 97 giveaways.

Like many Canucks players, Quinn Hughes was simply not as good as he was the year before.
