Klint Kubiak delivered a pointed assessment of the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver room after the team’s preseason comeback win over the Houston Texans.
The coach said the group had taken a step backward and indicated that the Raiders were still looking for a dependable contributor who could help on Sundays.
What Kubiak Said About the Raiders WR Room
In a report originally published by TWSN, Marissa Myers relayed Kubiak’s criticism of the position group following the Texans game.
Kubiak said the receivers had taken a step backward but could still move forward, while adding that the team was looking for someone accountable who could contribute on Sundays.
Vince Sapienza’s social-media post included the same comments.
Kubiak did not publicly identify any individual receiver, but his assessment placed the focus on a group that must improve as the season approaches.
Bech and Tucker Are Among the Receivers Being Challenged
The report identified Jack Bech and Tre Tucker as among the wide receivers who need to step up following Kubiak’s comments.
The Raiders also cannot rely solely on tight end Brock Bowers to lead the receiving game again, according to the report.
That leaves the receiver room with a clear response to Kubiak’s public message: produce more consistently and provide the offense with dependable options beyond Bowers.
A Veteran Addition Already Came and Went
Kubiak’s frustration lands even harder given how the Raiders’ most recent attempt to add help already fell through.
Las Vegas signed veteran receiver Noah Brown earlier this month, but the team released him on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Brown, a former seventh-round pick who broke out with Dallas in 2022 and has bounced through Houston and Washington since, never got the chance to factor into the picture before being let go.
His release leaves the depth chart even thinner behind Tucker, Bech, Jalen Nailor, Dont’e Thornton and rookie Malik Benson, and it underscores that finding outside help hasn’t been simple for this front office.
The Challenge for the Receiving Corps
The immediate issue is not finding a headline-making answer, but improving the contributions from within the current group.
Kubiak’s assessment made clear that accountability and the ability to help on Sundays are the standards he wants from the position.
Despite the preseason victory over the Texans, Kubiak remained dissatisfied with the receivers’ performance.
With one more preseason game and roster cuts still ahead, the next stage is whether the group responds to that criticism and gives the offense more support alongside Bowers.
