St. Joseph’s forward Rasheer Fleming was projected to be a late first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Now that Fleming has fallen to the second round, which team will select this talented forward? Here are three potential landing spots.

Minnesota Timberwolves

The first team to select in the second round might be the ideal fit for Fleming.

The Minnesota Timberwolves struck out on Kevin Durant. Now, they might lose significant pieces from their team that made the Western Conference Finals a season ago.

Julius Randle and Naz Reid both have player options, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker is an unrestricted free agent.

Let’s say Randle and Reid opt out. Due to salary cap constraints, Minnesota will not sign all three players. The team will definitely sign one player and have the flexibility to bring back a second.

If the Wolves re-sign Reid and lose either Randle or Alexander-Walker, Fleming is an ideal replacement.

Every single team in the NBA dreams of players who have defensive versatility and outside shooting. Can you guard multiple positions, and can you shoot the 3-pointer consistently?

Fleming can do both and would fit in seamlessly in Minnesota.

Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons are relevant again.

Last season, the Pistons made the postseason for the first time since 2018-2019. Although they lost in the first round, the Pistons proved they can be one of the toughest teams in the Eastern Conference.

In a down Eastern Conference, would it surprise anyone if the Pistons secured a top-four seed next season?

Detroit could lose Malik Beasley, Dennis Schröder, and Tim Hardaway Jr. to free agency.

Pairing a versatile wing like Fleming with Ausar Thompson would make life hell for opposing teams.

Golden State Warriors

Of the three teams on this list, the Golden State Warriors are the least likely to select Fleming because of their position in the draft. The Warriors have the No. 41 pick and would need to move up to take Fleming.

From a basketball perspective, Fleming is the 3-and-D wing the Warriors love to surround Steph Curry with.

Fleming also gives Golden State a replacement for Jonathan Kuminga. Kuminga is a restricted free agent and will generate interest from other teams, including the Miami Heat.

The Warriors could execute a sign-and-trade with Kuminga to acquire assets from another team. Give Fleming the Kuminga minutes, and you’re good to go.

Round 2 of the 2025 NBA Draft begins at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 26, on ESPN.
