Maxey’s absence marks yet another blow for a Sixers team already reeling with injuries. Paul George missed the team’s first five games, while Joel Embiid has not suited up for any contests to this point. He sat out the first six because of left knee management before the NBA suspended him three games for a postgame altercation with a local columnist. He is expected to make his season debut on Nov. 12 agains the New York Knicks, per reports.
Philadelphia is 1-6 and returns to the court Friday to face the Los Angeles Lakers inside Staples Center. Maxey, 24, is averaging 27.6 points per game this season.
