He defeated Andrey Rublev in the first round at the Australian Open. At the French Open, he knocked out Hubert Hurkacz and became only the sixth 18 year old to make it to the third round. joining elite company including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Borna Coric, and Carlos Alcaraz. Joao Fonseca will enter the Wimbledon main draw for the first time in his career after not making it out of the qualifying rounds last year. However, he still managed to earn an impressive 2024 London grass court win over Alexei Popyrin at the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic exhibition. Fonseca has proven that he performs well in high-profile matches which makes us wonder who he will take out of Wimbledon. He has not made it to the second week of a Grand Slam yet so Brazilian and Wimbledon fans are hoping to see him make the deepest run of his career at a Grand Slam at the All England Club.
