Russell Wilson’s NFL journey takes another unexpected turn this weekend, but this time it will be in front of the camera instead of behind center. With the New York Giants on their bye week, the veteran quarterback is set to appear as a guest analyst on CBS, marking another notable step into the media spotlight while he remains an active player.
Russell Wilson Starting To Explore Post-NFL Career
Wilson’s appearance will come on CBS’ NFL pregame coverage, where he will join the desk to break down league storylines and preview the weekend’s matchups. It’s a rare opportunity to see a current quarterback step directly into an analyst role during the season, and it speaks to both Wilson’s growing media presence and the league’s evolving relationship with player-personalities.

This won’t be his first taste of television analysis. Wilson previously appeared on the popular “ManningCast” alternate broadcast during a playoff game in 2022. His CBS appearance, however, represents his most prominent traditional studio analyst role to date, and one that places him squarely in front of a national weekend audience.
For Wilson, the timing is intriguing. His playing future has been a topic of constant discussion over the past year, and this CBS appearance only adds another layer to the conversation. Whether this is simply a one-off opportunity during a bye week or the early stages of a post-playing career in broadcasting remains to be seen.
Either way, it reinforces the idea that Wilson is already preparing for what comes next after his NFL career is over.

And the end of his playing days may not be too far away. Wilson’s career has been on a downward trajectory ever since he left Seattle in 2022. He’s played for three teams since then, has posted an overall record of 17-27 as a starter, and was benched earlier this season in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart.
It remains to be seen if he will get at least one more shot at being a starter in the league, but Wilson’s declining performance has made it increasingly unlikely.
