The New Orleans Saints are routinely mentioned in trade deadline rumors. But they may actually pull the trigger on a deal or two this time around, and it is their wide receivers who are garnering the most interest from teams around the league.
Saints Could Shop Rashid Shaheed Ahead Of Trade Deadline
In an update of the NFL trade landscape on his Tuesday podcast, insider Adam Schefter mentioned the Saints. He said that New Orleans is sitting on a collection of wide receivers, and that he thinks at least one of them will be dealt. Schefter then cited Rashid Shaheed specifically, saying that he is the one that most other teams are interested in.

Shaheed originally joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent, but quickly became an important piece for the team. After showing promise in his rookie season by putting up nearly 500 receiving yards, he had his best year in 2023, and even earned some high honors. Shaheed’s 719 yards and 5 touchdowns that season were impressive, but he truly made his mark as a punt returner, and was named a First Team All-Pro for the position.
With New Orleans struggling yet again in 2025, they may be looking to get value in exchange for some of their talent. Shaheed makes for the perfect candidate, given the reported interest around the league as well as his contract situation. His contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, and he may not be a part of the future plans for the Saints. So getting something in return now instead of letting him walk in March may be a priority for the team’s front office.
Which Teams Might Call New Orleans With Offers?
Which teams might be interested in Shaheed’s services? There are a handful of teams that may be looking for wide receiver help in order to bolster their rosters for a playoff push.
One team that could use an upgrade at the position is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who could use another weapon to help Aaron Rodgers. The New England Patriots could be buyers thanks to their surprising start to the season, and their division rival Buffalo Bills have been mentioned as a potential suitor.
In his eight games so far in 2025, Shaheed has racked up 431 yards on 39 catches, both of which put him on pace for career highs.
