No NFL quarterback has won more regular season games than Sam Darnold over the last two seasons. And thanks to a 14-3 finish by his Seattle Seahawks in 2025, he joins the greatest QB to ever play in a certain impressive statistical category.
Sam Darnold Joins NFL Royalty With Two-Season Win Total
Darnold’s initial career resurgence began last season in Minnesota. After signing with the Vikings to potentially be a backup to a rookie QB, Darnold led his team to a 14-3 record in 2025, making them one of the biggest surprises of that season.

But instead of committing to their signal caller long-term, the Vikings let Darnold walk in free agency. The 28-year-old found a home in Seattle, signing a three-year contract worth $100 million with the Seahawks, who hoped he would continue his success after playing for four different teams over his first seven NFL seasons.
The investment has paid off for Seattle. Behind Sam Darnold, the Seahawks marched to a 14-3 record in 2025, winning the NFC West division crown and earning the NFC’s number one seed in the process. They’ll likely enter the postseason as the favorites to win the Super Bowl, with the Los Angeles Rams not far behind.
Over the past two seasons combined, Darnold has posted an overall win/loss record of 28-6, which places him in elite company. After Saturday’s big win over the San Francisco 49ers, Darnold joins Tom Brady as the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to post back-to-back 14 win seasons.
Sam Darnold is of course the first to do it with two different teams, head coaches, and offensive systems.
In his second-straight Pro Bowl season in 2025, Darnold saw a bit of a regression in his passing numbers. His touchdown total dropped from 35 to 25 over one season, and only Tua Tagovailoa and Geno Smith threw more interceptions.
What he has given the Seahawks in the win column has overshadowed any statistical deficiencies, but the big question still lingers:
Can Sam Darnold lead his team to a victory when it matters the most?
