DK Metcalf looks on during a game.

DK Metcalf is only 27 years old and is still in the prime of his career, despite having a down year last season.

He failed to reach 1,000 receiving yards last year but had 992 receiving yards in 15 games.

Metcalf has never recorded less than 900 receiving yards in a season.

He has also been fairly healthy, playing in 15 or more games in his six seasons in the NFL.

DK Metcalf has requested to be traded from the Seattle Seahawks.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini posted on X that the Seahawks seek a first and third-round pick for Metcalf. She also stated Metcalf is eyeing a new contract worth around $30 million per year. Multiple teams have inquired.

Which Teams Should Push For Metcalf?

Many teams need a WR 1 or WR 2 and would be interested in Metcalf.

However, trading a first and third-round pick on top of Metcalf wanting a new deal will make it challenging.

This will scare off a bunch of those inquiring teams.

Teams that have a high draft pick will not be willing to trade a first-round pick for Metcalf.

One team makes the most sense to pull off the trade.

Los Angeles Chargers

The LA Chargers seem to be the most logical team to make this trade.

They need a WR 1 to play on the outside as Ladd McConkey is more of a slot wideout.

Justin Herbert needs an outside weapon. This was a major weakness for the team last season.

The Chargers have a lot of cap space and could afford to pay Metcalf $30 million per year. They also have the 22nd overall pick in the NFL Draft and may be willing to trade this pick for a top wideout.

Adding Metcalf to an already good team would be a big boost. The Chargers made the playoffs last year but lost in the wild-card round.

Other Teams That Could Be Interested

While the Chargers make the most sense, other teams could be interested.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are linked to every single free agent. They would take a look at Metcalf as they need a WR.

New England Patriots

New England needs a wideout and Metcalf would be a big help for Drake Maye. The Patriots have a lot of cap space. However, they have the fourth overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft and would not be willing to give this up. If the Patriots can acquire Metcalf for a second and third instead of a first and third, they would be more inclined.

It Will Not Be Easy To Find A Suitor

As mentioned above, the Chargers make the most sense. However, if they are not interested, this will make it challenging for Seattle to trade Metcalf with their asking price and Metcalf searching for a new deal.

It may be wise for the Seahawks to reduce the asking price to gain more suitors for Metcalf.
