Despite his low statistical production in college, Shemar Stewart might be one of the more physically gifted edge rushers and defensive linemen in the NFL Draft Class of 2025. How did he fare at this year’s Combine?

Shemar Stewart’s NFL Prospect Profile

Shemar Stewart seems like he’d be a prototype pass rusher and defensive lineman in the NFL. He has a rock-solid build and great explosiveness, and he is one of the most athletic players available at his position in the upcoming class.

But looking at his numbers and production in college, you’d never really know it. Stewart amassed just 1.5 sacks in each of his three seasons at Texas A&M, and had just 65 combined tackles during his stint as well. His final season saw him rack up 6 tackles for loss, which is easily the most impressive number on his resume.

As a fringe first rounder, there are few defensive linemen that needed to showcase their skills at the NFL Combine more than Stewart. And while he didn’t participate in the bench press portion of the event, he had one of the better showings in the 40-yard dash.

2025 NFL Combine Results

Thursday was the day that showcased the defensive linemen and linebackers. While he didn’t participate in all of the available measurement tests, Stewart was impressive enough in the speed portion to perhaps be able to turn the heads of some scouts.

40-Yard Dash

Eighteen players who are listed as pass rushers participated in the 40-yard dash, and Stewart’s clock-in of 4.59 seconds was the 4th best out of the entire field. The number doesn’t exactly stack up with former first round picks who have found success in the NFL, but given his large frame, it may be enough to entice a team to take a risk late in the first round.

Broad Jump/Vertical Jump

The jumping portion of the physical test was Stewart’s strong suit. His broad jump of 10’11” was the best of any participating defensive lineman in 2025, and was the 5th-highest figure of any player since at least 2017. In the vertical jump, he ranked second this year, just a half-inch off of the lead with a figure of exactly 40 inches. It was the 9th-best vertical number since at least 2014.

Bench Press

There is little question about Stewart’s muscle strength. Therefore, he decided to opt out of participating in the bench press portion of the event.

Physical Measurements:

  • Height: 6’5”
  • Weight: 267 lbs
  • Arms: 34 ⅛
  • Hands: 9 ⅝”

Shemar Stewart’s NFL Draft Prediction:

Some mock drafts have Stewart being selected late in the first round, and some have him off of their opening round board completely. He will be considered one of the biggest boom/bust products during this year’s selection process, and whichever team decides to call his name will certainly be taking a risk by doing so.

But if his production is ever able to catch up with his size and strength, Stewart could be a steal for a team early in the second round.

Prediction: 2nd Round, 41st Overall Pick – Chicago Bears
