Serious allegations involving former Michigan football staffers have surfaced in recent months, centered on claims of sexual assault, failure to report under Title IX, and subsequent harassment. The accusations involve former graduate assistant LaTroy Lewis and former head coach Sherrone Moore, with a woman identified publicly only as “Jane” detailing a timeline that spans from mid-2024 through early 2026.
LaTroy Lewis Alleged Text Messages Surface
According to Jane, she connected with LaTroy Lewis in 2024 through a dating platform. She alleges that what began as communication quickly escalated into threats, coercion, and graphic sexual messages. Screenshots attributed to Lewis include statements such as, “You need to feel my wrath. I will scare you to tears,” followed by explicit language describing violent sexual acts.
In another alleged message, Lewis wrote, “I’m going to f*ck, beat, choke, slap, kick… degrade, humiliate,” in a lengthy and graphic text. Jane claims that the tone of the messages became increasingly threatening, including statements where he allegedly told her he would “f*ck her up” and kill her.
Jane alleges that on December 5, 2024, Lewis sexually assaulted her at Weber’s Inn in Ann Arbor. She says she reported the incident the following day to Sherrone Moore. A second alleged physical altercation took place in January 2025 at her apartment in Milford, Michigan, where neighbors reportedly called police due to loud disturbances. Jane states she did not disclose abuse to responding officers out of fear.
Lewis has declined public comment. He later accepted positions at Toledo, UConn, and most recently with the Atlanta Falcons, who fired him on February 27, 2026 after this report surfaced.
Sherrone Moore Title IX Reporting Questions
The central issue in the unfolding controversy is not limited to the allegations against Lewis. Jane asserts that after she reported the alleged rape to Sherrone Moore, he did not report the claim through university Title IX channels, despite his status as a mandatory reporter under University of Michigan policy.
Jane says she provided Moore with details and a photo taken the morning after the alleged assault. According to her account, Moore responded sympathetically but told her she would need to report it herself.
In the weeks that followed, Jane alleges Moore sent her sexually explicit messages of his own. In one Snapchat exchange attributed to Moore, he wrote, “Get up. I have a room I need to get sucked now. How long. Get up.” The location attached to the message listed an Ann Arbor hotel address.
Jane did not respond to the demand, according to the messages.
Sherrone Moore Claims He Was Framed When Fired
In December 2025, Moore was fired from his position at Michigan. In text messages attributed to him after the termination, Moore responded to Jane’s inquiry about media reports by stating, “It’s not [true] she framed me and got me fired.” Jane says Moore specifically referenced being framed by Paige Shiver in separate conversations.
Jane alleges Moore contacted her multiple times during the fallout, including after being released from jail following his arrest.
University Of Michigan Football Under Scrutiny
The allegations against Lewis and Moore have intensified scrutiny around Michigan’s football program and its internal oversight processes. Jane filed a police report in February 2026 with Ann Arbor authorities and petitioned for a Personal Protection Order against Lewis.
No criminal convictions have been reported as of publication, and both men are entitled to the presumption of innocence. The primary unresolved question remains whether Moore fulfilled his obligations under Title IX policy when first informed of the alleged assault.
The university has not publicly detailed the scope of any internal investigation.
