Shedeur Sanders was the biggest shock of the NFL Draft. He was expected to be a first-round pick but did not go in round one. People assumed he would go in the second or at least the third round, but he did not. Sanders wound up being selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.

During the NFL Draft, a video circulated of Sanders receiving a prank call stating that the New Orleans Saints would select him. Here is the video.

Sanders was not the only prospect to receive these calls.

Tyler Warren and Kyle McCord received these prank calls as well.

It turns out, one of the people involved in making the prank calls was an NFL coach’s son.

It turns out, one of the people in the video above making the call to Shedeur Sanders was the son of DC Jeff Ulbrich.

Jax Ulbrich, the son of Jeff, posted the following on social media, apologizing to Shedeur.

Jax, who appears next to the person who made the phone call, is a sophomore football player at Berry College in Georgia and plays running back for the NCAA Division III institution, according to the school’s athletic website. He appeared in just two games last season, tallying 10 rushing attempts for 54 yards as part of the team’s run to the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Turns out Shedeur took a call from Jax, but it is not known what was said in the conversation.

This also prompted the Atlanta Falcons to make a statement.

Atlanta has decided not to punish their defensive coordinator.

Sanders commented on the prank call, stating, “It didn’t really have an impact on me, because it was just like, I mean, ‘OK.’ I don’t feed into negativity, or I don’t feed into that stuff. You’ve seen on Deion [Sanders] Jr.’s YouTube video. My reaction to it, I don’t — it is what it is. I think, of course, it was childish. Of course, I feel like it was a childish act, but everybody does childish things here and there.”

These prank calls are not uncommon. Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean received one during the 2024 draft while in the green room just before his eventual selection, as have several other players.
