Stars sign Thomas Harley to an eight year contract extension

The Dallas Stars have signed Thomas Harley of Syracuse, New York to an eight-year contract extension worth $84.7 million. The contract extension means that Harley will be making $10.587 million on an annual basis through to the 2023-24 NHL season.

Harley is one of three NHL players who have signed a significant contract extension this week. He is joined by Logan Cooley of the Utah Mammoth, who signed an eight-year deal worth $80 million, and Martin Necas, who signed an eight-year deal worth $92 million with the Colorado Avalanche.

One reason why Harley is now long term with the Stars is because of his exceptional play during the 2025 Four Nations Faceoff for Team Canada. Harley was eligible to play for Team Canada because he is a dual citizen (United States and Canada). Both of his parents are from Edmonton. Now, Harley is in the mix for Team Canada at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
