Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs has a torn ACL. How much time will the Texans’ receiver miss?

Stefon Diggs Out For The Season With Torn ACL

Unfortunately for the Texans, Diggs will not suit up the rest of the way.

Diggs suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts and will miss the rest of the 2024 season, head coach DeMeco Ryans announced on Tuesday.

“It hurts our team to hear that news,” Ryans said about the Diggs’ injury. “He brought a lot to our team, and we have to pick up the slack. A lot of guys have to step up.”

The Texans later placed Diggs on the Reserve/Injured list.

Diggs tore his ACL on a noncontact play late in the third quarter. Diggs walked off the field and didn’t return. He finished with five catches for 81 yards.

Diggs’ 2024 campaign will end with 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns.

The two-time All-Pro will be a free agent after this season. When Houston acquired Diggs from the Bills, the team restructured his contract, moving his guaranteed money from 2025 to 2024. Diggs earned $22.52 million guaranteed in 2024.

Houston Texans Dealing With A Series Of Injuries

Losing Diggs is a major blow to the Texans (6-2), one of the AFC’s top teams.

Wide receiver Nico Collins has been out with a hamstring injury since Week 5. Collins is eligible to come off injured reserve next week following Houston’s Week 9 game at the New York Jets.

The Texans’ receivers for Week 9 are Tank Dell, Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson, and John Metchie III.

Could the Texans be looking to trade for a receiver before next Tuesday’s deadline? One name to cross off is Diontae Johnson, who was traded to the Baltimore Ravens.
