Despite a three-year hiatus between seasons, fans are still happiest in Hawkins.
Netflix released the viewership numbers for the week of 11/24-11/30. Stranger Things Season 5, which premiered on November 26, achieved 59.6 million views. Season 5 is the No. 1 most popular show on Netflix right now.
That becomes the biggest premiere-week viewership for an English-language Netflix series, passing the previous record of approximately 56 million views for Wednesday Season 1.
Stranger Things Season 5’s premiere-week viewership is third overall in the streamer’s history, behind Squid Game Seasons 2 and 3. Squid Game Season 2 holds the record for most premiere-week views with 68 million.
In 2022, Stranger Things Season 4 premiered with 287 million hours watched, which translates to 22 million views.
All five seasons of Stranger Things are on Netflix’s global top 10 list for the week: Season 5 at No. 1, Season 1 at No. 3, Season 4 at No. 5, Season 2 at No. 6, and Season 3 at No. 8.
The Nov. 26 release only featured four episodes. The next three episodes stream on December 25, and the finale premieres on December 31. It’s safe to say Stranger Things Season 5 will remain the No. 1 show on Netflix.
Per Polymarket, the odds suggest Stranger Things Season 5 will be the top show on Netflix for three consecutive weeks. The split release helps the show’s chances of staying at No. 1. If Stranger Things Season 5 is still the No. 1 show by Christmas, it will remain in the spot for several more weeks, as the final four episodes hit the service.
