Phoenix Suns Jalen Green Out At Least 2-3 More Weeks With Hamstring Strain

Although Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green “continues to make good progress” in his recovery from a strained right hamstring, he will be out at least two or three more weeks, according to Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic.

Jalen Green Has Played Two Games With Suns

Green’s hamstring has been a significant issue this season since suffering the strain early in training camp, then aggravating it during his ramp-up process in mid-October.

He sat out the first eight games of the regular season, played 23 minutes in his debut in early November, then reinjured the hamstring a few days later roughly seven minutes into his second game.

The Suns announced Nov. 11 that Green would be reevaluated in four to six weeks. Head coach Jordan Ott said the former first-rounder was doing some on-court work last week.

Phoenix acquired Green from the Houston Rockets over the summer as part of the historic seven-team Kevin Durant trade. Green was Houston’s leading scorer last season, averaging 21 points on 42.3% shooting from the floor and a career-best 35.4% from 3-point territory.

He played 67 games as a rookie and 76 in his second year, then appeared in 82 games each of the past two seasons.

Per Spotrac, Green is earning about $33.6 million in 2025-26 in the first season of a three-year, $105 million rookie-scale extension that includes a $36 million player option for 2027-28.

Grayson Allen Injury Update

Rankin noted that Ott provided an update on Grayson Allen.

Allen, who has missed Phoenix’s past two games with a right knee injury, is averaging a career-high 16.3 points per game. The Suns (15-13) face the Los Angeles Lakers (19-8) on Tuesday night at Mortgage Matchup Center.

He’s listed as doubtful for Tuesday’s game with right knee injury management.

“He’s doing more and more each day,” Ott said. “There was a little swelling in there just after the last game (Dec. 14) against the Lakers. Now that seems to be gone away. Now he’s just working his way back in, but he did most of practice today.”

The Lakers, meanwhile, will be without Luka Doncic (lower left leg contusion), Rui Hachimura (right groin soreness) and Gabe Vincent (lumbar back strain). Austin Reaves (left calf strain) is listed as questionable.
