Will The Bengals Re-Sign Tee Higgins?

In a perfect world, the Bengals re-sign Higgins, giving quarterback Joe Burrow his wish. However, this isn’t a perfect world.
Higgins played the 2021 season on the franchise tag — a one-year contract worth $21,816,000. It’s unlikely the Bengals tag Higgins for the second consecutive season.
If Higgins hits the open market, his contract could hit $30 million annually. Are the Bengals willing to pay that for a No. 2 option?
Probably not.
Cincinnati is a notoriously cheap organization. With Ja’Marr Chase and Trey Hendrickson in line for extensions, the likelihood of the team signing Higgins to one over those two players is slim.
There are injury concerns with Higgins, who missed five games in 2024. However, Higgins is an elite wide receiver when on the field. Higgins finished the year with 73 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games.

If Higgins hits free agency, several teams would be willing to pay top dollar for his services.
The Denver Broncos (+400) are the favorite to land Higgins, per BetOnline. With Cortland Sutton facing a contract dilemma, Higgins could become the new No. 1 option for Bo Nix.
The Washington Commanders (+500) would love to give Jayden Daniels another weapon. Washington tried to add Brandon Aiyuk last season before he returned to the 49ers. Don’t be surprised if the Commanders make a move on Higgins if he becomes available.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (+600) and Los Angeles Chargers (+600) each have one good receiver on their rosters — George Pickens and Ladd McConkey, respectively. Adding a player like Higgins could help each offense take the next step.
