Texans Trade LT Laremy Tunsil to Commanders For NFL Draft Picks

The Washington Commanders are taking care of Jayden Daniels’ blind side by trading for Houston Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil.
Commanders Trade For Laremy Tunsil

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Commanders are trading for Tunsil in a deal with the Texans for multiple draft picks.
Washington acquires Tunsil and a 2025 fourth-round pick, while Houston receives a 2025 third-round pick, a 2025 seventh-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick.
Tunsil is considered one of the ten best left tackles in the NFL.
Tunsil, 30, is coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2024, where he started all 17 games.
The Miami Dolphins selected Tunsil with the 13th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Tunsil played three seasons with the Dolphins before being traded to the Texans in August 2019.
Tunsil has made five Pro Bowls in nine seasons.
The veteran left tackle has two years remaining on his three-year, $75 million extension he signed with the Texans in 2021.
Commanders Continue To Improve Roster

After exceeding expectations in 2024 with an appearance in the NFC Championship, the Washington Commanders realize their window to contend is now.
The biggest advantage in the NFL is having an elite quarterback on a rookie contract.
With Daniels entering his second year, the Commanders can use cap space and draft picks to build a strong roster around their young quarterback.
Earlier this month, the Commanders traded for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
The Commanders kicked off free agency by signing New York Jets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw to a three-year, $45 million contract.
The Commanders also re-signed key pieces from last year’s team, including linebacker Bobby Wagner and tight ends Zach Ertz and John Bates.
