The 2025 NFL Draft is here, but there is a lack of enthusiasm for talent.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, a current general manager stated, “I don’t recall seeing a draft that was so light in the first 10 picks.”

A head coach told Russini, “There aren’t a lot of Robert De Niros at the top of this draft.”

Another source told Russini, “Picks 4, 5, 6, and 7 can get the same player at 20 that they can get at their current slots.”

This is a weaker draft class compared to previous years.

The 2025 NFL Draft Class Lacks Talent

One of the main reasons for this draft class being considered a weak class is the lack of QB talent.

Shedeur Sanders is supposedly the second-best QB on the board, but as we get closer to draft day, his stock seems to be tumbling.

Even the expected first overall pick, Cam Ward, would have been considered possibly the seventh-best QB in last year’s draft.

It is difficult for teams to get overly excited about a draft when they need a QB and there just isn’t a very good one available.

The two best draft prospects in 2025 are DL Abdul Carter and WR/CB Travis Hunter.

Russini stated the Browns, Giants, and Patriots are fielding calls for picks 2,3, and 4. The majority of the teams looking to move up view WR/CB Travis Hunter as their top target if they can trade up. Cleveland holds the number two pick.

However, outside of Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter, there is a lack of enthusiasm for the other talent in the draft class.

Ashton Jeanty is a highly touted running back and could go top 10, but a running back does not move the needle much for teams, especially a team picking in the top 10.

This is a deeper class for the running back and defensive line positions. Still, there is not much hype for this draft class.

The wide receiver prospects are not exciting anyone. There seems to be a lack of talent at the offensive line position in this year’s draft class.

Outside of Travis Hunter, who may play wideout, there is a lack of cornerback talent.

Where Will Shedeur Sanders Land?

The biggest question mark entering the 2025 NFL Draft is which team will select QB Shedeur Sanders.

He has been linked to the New Orleans Saints at pick 9. However, there are rumors the Saints are going to pass on him.

This leaves the Pittsburgh Steelers at pick 21 as the favorites to select Sanders.

It would be a good fit for Sanders with Mike Tomlin. However, this selection would feel like Kenny Pickett all over again for the Steelers.

Pickett fell to the 20th pick because nobody wanted him. The Steelers took him, and he was a bust.

It is rare for a QB to fall that low when a lot of teams need a QB.

It is telling when a QB falls in the draft, and the Steelers did not hit with Pickett.

If Sanders falls to 21, this means no team wanted him, despite many QB-needy teams.

With the 21st pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Steelers could once again get the QB position wrong if they select Shedeur Sanders when no other team wanted him.
