What Is The Amateur About?
Charlie Heller (Malek) is a CIA cryptographer who spends most of his time cracking codes in the basement at Langley.
Charlie’s life comes crashing down after his wife (Rachel Brosnahan) is killed in a London terrorist attack.
Fueled by revenge, Charlie wants to come out from behind his desk and enter the field to face his wife’s killers.
When his bosses refuse to help him, Charlie seeks mentorship from Robert Henderson (Laurence Fishburne), a trained killer.
Despite being underestimated, Charlie slowly becomes a vigilante and uses his intelligence to become a one-man killing machine.
The Amateur also stars Caitríona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, Adrian Martinez, and Danny Sapani.
James Hawes directs The Amateur from a screenplay by Ken Nolan and Gary Spinelli. The movie is based on the novel by Robert Littell.
The Amateur opens in theaters on April 11, 2025.
