The Atlanta Falcons' Week 6 game at the Minnesota Vikings is now considered 'in jeopardy' after Atlanta had multiple positive COVID-19 tests.

By now, Americans have celebrated, lamented, or processed the November 5, 2024, Election Night results.  Donald Trump will become the 47th President of the United States in January 2025.

While emotions run the gamut about the result, Atlanta Falcons fans had to be surprised that their team was mentioned in social media discussions as the results were being tabulated.  It seemed odd to mention the Falcons since Trump was not from Atlanta or known to be an Atlanta Falcons fan.

Initially, Falcons fans were probably angry. The anger may have turned into hope, and here’s why.

Trump’s 28-3 lead

Atlanta Falcons fans will never get over their Super Bowl loss to Tom Brady’s New England Patriots when the team had a seemingly insurmountable 28-3 lead in the third quarter.  The Falcons lost the game 34-28.

A savvy social media user named Harrison Krank poked the bear by sharing a screenshot of Donald Trump’s 28-3 electoral vote lead over Kamala Harris. He wrote a caption that referenced that fateful Super Bowl.  Krank wrote: “Unlike the Atlanta Falcons, Trump can hold a 28-3 lead”

Some readers thought Krank was commenting too soon as the Presidential race was far from over.   One Falcons fan ironically named John Hancock replied: “This is causing me pain on a cellular level, please don’t do the dirty birds so bad.”

Falcons are 6-3 now and then

Another savvy social media user named Mike Sorrentino (not to be mistaken for the Mike Sorrentino of Jersey Shore fame) wanted to cheer up the Falcons fans by sharing some good news.  The Falcons are 6-3 in 2024.  The last time they were 6-3 was during the 2016 NFL season when Donald Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States.

Could Donald Trump’s win be a good omen for the Atlanta Falcons to overcome their 2017 Super Bowl loss?  Time will tell, but fans certainly hope so.

Matt Ryan has retired and is no longer the Falcons quarterback, but anything is possible with Kirk Cousins.  His career has proven it.
