The NFC West has a strong case for the best division in the NFL, with the 49ers at 3-0 and the Seahawks, Cardinals, and Los Angeles Rams at 2-1.
Seattle is riding high after dismantling the New Orleans Saints 44-13. Sam Darnold is off to a strong start with the Seahawks, having earned a 92.7 grade from PFF in Week 3, the highest for an offensive player on the team.
Darnold’s connection with wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been strong. JSN has at least 96 receiving yards in all three games.
Seattle’s defense might be the bigger story. The Seahawks are second in scoring defense (15.7) and remain the only team to have not allowed a rushing touchdown this season.
Speaking of rushing attacks, the Cardinals lost James Conner to a season-ending foot injury in Week 3’s 16-15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. This opens the door for Trey Benson, who leads the Cardinals in rushing with 125 yards.
Like Seattle, Arizona’s defense has been stout to start the season in terms of scoring. The Cardinals are tied for fifth in scoring defense (17.0) and fourth in red zone defense (41.7%).
Seattle hasn’t allowed more than 17 points in all three games. Arizona has scored over 20 points in one of three games. In a short week featuring defenses that keep the scoring low, we’re taking the under.
