Tiger Woods to Design New 9-Hole Course and TGR Learning Lab as Part of Augusta Community Project

Tiger Woods is working with Augusta National to redesign an old municipal course into a new golf learning center.

Tiger Woods is set to leave a lasting impact on Augusta beyond his five Masters titles. In partnership with Augusta National Golf Club, Woods will design a new nine-hole short course and establish a TGR Learning Lab aimed at enriching the local community.

A New Chapter for ‘The Patch’

Augusta National Golf Club Chairman Fred Ridley announced on Monday that Woods and his TGR Design firm will create “The Loop at The Patch,” a nine-hole par-3 course as part of the renovation of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, affectionately known as “The Patch.” This initiative seeks to provide an affordable and inviting golf experience for the community.

“At the heart of our effort at The Patch is a commitment to create an affordable and inviting golf experience,” Ridley stated. “Equal importance will be placed on creating opportunities to learn and fall in love with the game as well as developing a pipeline for employment in the golf industry.”

Empowering Education through TGR Learning Lab

In addition to the golf course, Woods’ TGR Foundation will establish a TGR Learning Lab in Augusta. This facility will offer science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education to students in Richmond County and surrounding areas. The Learning Lab aims to prepare young people for future careers by providing access to high-quality educational programming.

“Partnering with Augusta National Golf Club to serve its surrounding community is truly special,” Woods expressed. “My passion for education and golf dates back a

as does my relationship with Augusta National and the city of Augusta. This is a transformational opportunity to empower the next generation and deliver meaningful educational programming and access to fun and affordable golf.

“I’m excited to work alongside Augusta National and see both projects become a reality.”

.”

Woods’ involvement in this project underscores his commitment to giving back to the community that has been central to his storied career. The collaboration between Augusta National and TGR Foundation reflects a shared vision of fostering education and making golf accessible to all. The TGR Learning Lab is anticipated to open in April 2028, while “The Loop at The Patch” aims to welcome golfers by the next Masters Tournament.

This partnership not only revitalizes a historic golf venue but also invests in the future of Augusta’s youth, blending the traditions of the game with opportunities for educational advancement.
