Two Legendary NFL QBs Will Be A Part Of Miami Dolphins GM Interviews

As the Miami Dolphins are looking for a new general manager this NFL offseason, and Dan Marino and Troy Aikman will be involved in the search for the team’s next personel decision maker.

Dan Marino, Troy Aiken Are In On Dolphins GM Interviews

Following the October dismissal of longtime GM Chris Grier, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has assembled a diverse and high-profile group to evaluate external GM candidates. Among those slated to participate in interview sessions via Zoom are Ross, team president Tom Garfinkel, senior vice president Brandon Shore, as well as Marino and Aikman.

Marino’s inclusion, though less publicized in mainstream reports, carries deep emotional and symbolic weight for the Dolphins. Widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in franchise history, Marino’s stature transcends typical ambassadorial roles, and his voice in selecting a GM resonates with fans who crave not just competence but a cultural reset.

Aikman’s role is slightly more defined and rooted in contemporary league insight. The former Dallas Cowboys star and current ESPN analyst was brought in as a consultant to advise the Dolphins during their GM search, a temporary but potentially impactful assignment.

Aikman’s decades in the broadcast booth have given him unparalleled visibility into front-office trends and organizational cultures across the NFL, from analytics-driven clubs to traditional scouting powerhouses. Miami’s decision to leverage his leaguewide relationships and evaluative experience suggests a desire to vet GM candidates not just on paper but through a network of shared insights and professional endorsements.

The group as a whole has a big decision on their hands. The Dolphins have had underwhelming finishes over the past two seasons, and are entering the 2026 offseason with more questions surrounding their franchise than answers. Whoever does land the job will be thrown into the fire immediately with the Tua Tagovailoa contract situation, though it is thought that the job in Miami is one of the league’s most coveted this offseason.

So far, the Dolphins have announced that they will interview six different candidates, including three people from within the San Francisco 49ers organization.
