All the fighters hit the scales today for UFC 309, which goes down tomorrow night (Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024) at Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY. The highly anticipated heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic is official, as both fighters successfully made weight.

In the main event, former light heavyweight king and now heavyweight champion Jon Jones is finally making his return to the Octagon to defend his heavyweight title for the first time against the former heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic. This long-awaited matchup has been years in the making, and the atmosphere is electric here in Vegas. Both fighters weighed in under the heavyweight limit of 265 pounds. Jones 11 lbs lighter than his heavyweight debut and Miocic is noticeably heavier than his last fight against Francis Ngannou.

The co-main event also features a championship clash, as Charles Oliveira steps inside the Octagon against Michael Chandler for a second time. Both Oliveira and Chandler made weight, as all systems go for their co-main event barnburner. This is a guaranteed fireworks fight, as both men are known for their exciting fighting styles.

There was one hiccup on the weigh-in scale, however. James Llontop missed weight for his catchweight bout against Mauricio Ruffy. Llontop came in at 166.2 pounds, .2 pounds over the catchweight limit of 166 lbs. The fight is still expected to go ahead, but Llontop will have to forfeit 20% of his purse to Ruffy.
