Carlos Alcaraz continued his march to another US Open title with a thrilling 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 quarterfinal victory over Jiri Lehecka.
The Spaniard was at his entertaining best throughout, pulling off some remarkable winners in terrific rallies. He has won all five matches he’s played thus far in straight sets and will certainly be favored against whoever he faces in the semifinals.
“I want to play solid, play well and play smart but at the same time when I have the opportunity to play a great shot – or a hot shot, let’s say – why not?” Alcaraz said.
“I’m here to entertain the people, myself and the team.”
Alcaraz could become the first ever man to win the US Open without losing a set. He faces the winner of the quarterfinal between Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic next.

Alcaraz Making History In A Hurry
At 22 years and four months, Alcaraz is the youngest man to reach a Grand Slam semifinal without losing a set since Rafael Nadal at the French Open in 2008. Nadal was 22 years and five days old.
Only Nadal, Bjorn Borg and Boris Becker have reached more semifinals (10) before the age of 23 than Alcaraz’s nine. With next year’s Australian Open taking place before Alcaraz’s 23rd birthday, he will have a chance to match those great names.
Nadal is also the last man to win a Slam without losing a set, doing so at the 2020 French Open. In addition to 2008, he also did it in 2010 and 2017 at the French Open.
Roger Federer accomplished the feat twice, at the 2007 Australian Open and 2017 Wimbledon. The other players to have done so in the Open Era are Ken Rosewall, Ilie Nastase and Bjorn Borg.
Yes, for all the records that Djokovic has to his name, he hasn’t accomplished this incredible feat.
