On Saturday, Italy’s opponent will be determined as the USA women face Great Britain, a BJK Cup matchup that has not happened in 33 years.

The USA women defeated Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals and face Great Britain who defeated Japan in its quarterfinal match.
2017 was the last time the USA women won the BJK Cup. That marked the first Team USA win in 17 years. Sloane Stephens, fresh off of her US Open win, led the team which also included Coco Vandeweghe, Alison Riske, Shelby Rogers, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, and Lauren Davis.
Team USA has won the event 18 times in the 63 year history. Italy won five times, and Great Britain has never won but was a finalist four times between 1967 and 1981.

Great Britain has Katie Boulter, Francesca Jones, Sonay Kartal, and Jodie Anna Burrage.
The US has Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro, Mccartney Kessler, Hailey Baptiste, and Taylor Townsend. It also boasts a 9-1 career head-to-head record over Great Britain.
After Emma Navarro won the opening match and Jessica Pegula dropped her match against 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, Team USA clinched the win over Kazakhstan with stellar doubles play by Pegula and World No. 1 doubles player Townsend.
Great Britain did not need the deciding doubles match as the singles matches by Sonay Kartal and Katie Boulter were both won in straight sets.
The Italy team, loaded with talent consisting of Jasmine Paolini, Lucia Bronzetti, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, Tyra Caterina Grant, and Sara Errani, has Saturday off.
