There are rumblings that the Los Angeles Rams might be putting quarterback Matthew Stafford on the trade block. He is reportedly looking for a new deal, but the team could be hesitant to make a multi-year commitment to a 16-year NFL veteran who just turned 37 years old.

If they do explore trade options, which teams around the league are most likely to call? Here are the teams with the shortest odds of acquiring Stafford, based on lines provided by BetOnline:

Which NFL Team Could Trade For Matthew Stafford This Off-Season?

Minnesota Vikings (+300)

Sam Darnold was a revelation for the Vikings in 2024, but fizzled out during Minnesota’s biggest games at the end of the season. He is now a free agent and unlikely to return, meaning that the Vikings will be handing the keys over to last year’s first round draft pick JJ McCarthy.

Or will they? Their 14-3 record in 2024 suggests that Minnesota is ready to win now, and could be wary of putting their hopes in a player that hasn’t taken an NFL snap yet.

That would mean that they are in the market for a veteran quarterback. There aren’t going to be many options by way of free agency, meaning that the Vikings might need to trade for one. If the Rams are taking calls on Matthew Stafford, then Minnesota would likely be one of the first teams to call. The oddsmakers believe so, anyway, and they have the Vikings as the most likely destination for the 37-year-old QB with a designation of +300.

New York Giants (+400)

It looked as though the Giants were on track to lock down the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but a late-season victory has bumped them down to the third spot. There is a good chance that one of the two elite quarterback prospects is available when they are on the clock, but it is unclear how high they are on Shedeur Sanders.

If New York chooses to address a different position in the draft, then bringing in Stafford could be a possibility. He doesn’t quite fit the timeline, as the Giants are a ways away from being a contending team, and it is unclear how much time Stafford has left to be a productive NFL QB. But the oddsmakers like their chances of acquiring him, and have New York with the second-best odds at +400.

Las Vegas Raiders (+500)

The top QB draft prospects may be just out of the Raiders’ reach this year. Las Vegas currently holds the 6th overall selection, and are starved for reliable play under center, and might be forced to explore veteran options depending on how the first five picks play out.

It would be a short move for Stafford, going from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, but it could be an attractive destination considering the leadership that the Raiders have in place. Tom Brady is of course a part owner and will be involved in team building. And the Rams have brought in Pete Carroll as their head coach, who was around for Russell Wilson’s success and helped Geno Smith elevate his career.

The Raiders are third on the odds board at +500.
