WATCH Lakers Luka Doncic Drops Phone And Reporter Says 'Turnover'

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic scored a game-high 34 points in Sunday’s 125-101 win over the Sacramento Kings to help his team end a three-game skid. It was a bounce-back game in which Doncic committed five turnovers, one more than his season average of four per game.

Luka Doncic Dropped Phone After Interview

At the end of Doncic’s postgame interview, the five-time All-Star’s orange iPhone fell off the table as he stood up, and a nearby reporter was heard saying, “turnover.”

It wouldn’t be the first time that Doncic damaged a phone this year.

His emotions from the shocking blockbuster trade last season with the Dallas Mavericks are still on one of the iPhones he carries with him.

Upon learning he’d been traded, Doncic threw his phone after the call ended. Doncic’s manager, Lara Beth Seager, showed it to ESPN’s Malika Andrews from that night during an exclusive April interview.

The phone, which didn’t have a protective case on it, had a piece chipped away from the top with a crack running down the back. Doncic, however, chose to keep the damaged phone.

“Yeah, it still works,” Doncic said when asked if he still uses it.

Lakers Snapped Three-Game Losing Streak

Doncic and LeBron James led the Lakers to victory Sunday. James went on to finish with 24 points after making his first three shots in the first three minutes of the game.

James shot 11-for-13 from the floor, with his 84.6% shooting percentage not only representing his best as a Laker but third best of his 23-year career, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

“I don’t want to create the narrative of [just] me and Luka,” James said. “It’s five guys on the floor and seven guys that come off the bench. It needs to be all of us. [But] it’s important that we set the tone.

“I just felt in a really good rhythm tonight,” James said. “Had a good spring to my step, to my bounce and just tried to make the most out of my touches.”

With Austin Reaves sidelined due to a left calf strain, Doncic carried the Lakers in the second quarter, when he recorded 15 of his 34 points and went 5-for-7 from the field.

“I think it definitely starts with us,” Doncic said. “And when AR is back, it’s going to be all three of us. But now, it starts with us. We need to show what we can do and if we are going to do it, we both are going to do it. The group is going to follow.”

L.A. had dropped four of six and all by at least 13 points, including a 23-point drubbing at the hands of the Houston Rockets on Christmas Day in the team’s previous game.

The Lakers host the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.
